Choosing a school for your child is a big decision.

Families consider academics, class sizes, extracurricular activities, safety, tuition, location, and plenty of other practical factors.

The King’s Academy, a Christian school in Tennessee, recently reported that 93.4% of eligible students returned for the 2026–27 school year, its highest retention rate in five years.

School leaders credited that success in part to something surprisingly simple: intentionally connecting with families.

That is worth paying attention to because a strong Christian school community should be about much more than where your child goes to class each day.

Your Child Should Be Known

One of the greatest gifts a school can give a child is the experience of being truly known.

Not simply knowing their name.

Knowing what makes them laugh.

Recognizing when they are struggling.

Encouraging them when confidence is low.

Challenging them when they are capable of more.

Look beyond the programs and facilities.

Ask:

• How teachers know their students.

• How the school partners with parents.

• How faith shapes everyday learning.

• What the school hopes will be true about your child when they graduate.
