LOWER CAMPUS (K-5th)
BG Christian’s elementary program encourages students to recognize their potential, work toward their goals, be mindful of others, and follow the examples of Jesus Christ. We offer quality instruction in academics, athletics, the arts, and more at a level that both challenges and encourages your student. BGCA adheres to Ohio’s state education standards while teaching from a biblical perspective.
We also offer an opportunity for gifted students to “Shine” through a course designed to enhance learning and encourage creative thinking. Alongside our typical students, we also serve higher-functioning Special Needs students. Our Intervention Program identifies potential needs and works towards IEP/504 goals as needed.
Some highlights of the elementary years include weekly chapel programs, faith-based musicals, field trips (to area parks, Toledo Zoo, Sauder’s Museum, and more), a community service project held each spring called ‘Community Day’, Bible Day which is an event that allows us to bring the Bible to life, Caught Being Good ( a school-wide rewards system), Chess Club, GEMS Club, Cross Country and Basketball teams, and outdoor education to name a few.
UPPER CAMPUS (6th-12th)
Upper Campus students set the bar for incoming underclassmen through diligence, perseverance, and confidence inspired by dedicated educators and regular encounters with the Word of God. Building on the foundation set in younger years, our middle school and high school students begin to experience ‘Christian Community’ at a different level while they chart their individual path toward graduations and post-secondary education.
Small class sizes and individual attention can help your student achieve his/her academic goals and prepare them for their future professional or educational career. We administer standardized testing in the upper grades and offer academic guidance as needed. We value open communication with families as an important tool in improving your student’s opportunities for academic success.
Some highlights of our Upper Campus experience include Science Fair, ACSI Band & Choir competition, Athletics, Quiz Bowl, TeenPact, High School Trips, and much more. Many of our students compete at district and state levels in these areas.
Of special interest for our eighth graders is the “TeenPact” experience. Upper Campus American History/Government coursework culminates in a rare opportunity to work among the political leaders of our state. The “TeenPact” program provides a faith-based look at governing and lawmaking which is highlighted by a group trip to the state capitol. BG Christian students and peers throughout Ohio meet with lawmakers to write, present, and vote on their own bills on the Statehouse floor!
