Lions Basketball Teams in Full Swing

Friday Night a packed house got the chance to see two great games between St Michael’s Defenders and the BG Christian LIONS. The first game featured the Lions elementary team and they battled hard against the Defenders and the game came down to a last second 3-point shoot that sealed the victory for St. Michael’s. However both teams played very well and gave all they had.

In the second game the Lions Junior High team jumped out a 9-4 lead after 1 quarter and kept putting in on from that point, leading by as many as 12 points at one time in the second half. St. Mike’s made a valiant effort to bring the game back in reach but the Lions held them off to secure their second victory of the year (2-6). They were lead by Travis Clark (15 points), Steven Speck, Gavin Winters, and John-Wesley Winters each added 8 points, and David Turk completed the scoring for the Lions with 2 points.

The Junior High boys and girls teams will be in action this week, hosting NOCHE on Monday (1/25) and Monclova on Friday (1/29). On Tuesday night the Elementary and Junior High boys’ teams will travel to Apostolic and play at 4:30 and 5:30 respectively.
