New this year to BG Christian is the “Lego© Club” where students are challenged to build on mechanical and structural principles normally hidden away inside everyday machines and structures. The club, open to 3rd-8th graders, was started as part of the national STEM education program which was initiated “to give students the opportunity to explore new ideas and new worlds related to the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics fields” (http://www.pbs.org/teachers/stem/).
Advisors to the club this year are Mrs. Judy Bowlus (BG Christian Academy – Faculty), Mr. Mark Bowlus, and Mr. Brad Shaser (BG Christian Academy – Faculty).
“This club is one of our initial steps to incorporate STEM education in to our after school programming. The goal is to further grow our student offerings, with other STEM related programs including robotics and technology, in the near future.” said Admissions/Marketing Coordinator – Zane Powell. The students had their first club meeting on Oct. 9th and were very excited to start building.
